Inward and Onward: A Wholehearted Schools Immersion (3 Graduate Credits OR 30 Professional Hours)

Audience: Educators who have completed “Onward: A Yearlong Emotional Resiliency Immersion for Educators”

Dates: August 2024 - June 2025

In this immersive experience, educators will develop greater depth around their own emotional resilience as they dig deeper into mindset shifts to manage stress and overcome the challenges of the teaching profession. Educators will be provided the structure, knowledge, and guidance to integrate this work more deeply into their school community whether it be in their own classroom, faculty gatherings, or in other ways that allow them to further apply healthy habits and dispositions in more concrete ways. Monthly class times will be supported as a confidential place to celebrate bright spots and share struggles as we work to learn from one another and cultivate resilience. Educators will be expected to co-facilitate certain class activities throughout the course that connect to their identified “scope of work” plan for the school year.

Through our main text, Onward, we will continue to explore a different habit and correlating disposition each month that relates to the typical challenge in school settings during that month of the year. Additionally, educators will read two texts from a suggested list to further deepen their own emotional resilience as it pertains to their role as an educator.

A final project will wrap up the course as each educator shares their personal reflection and presents ways in which they have decreased stress and cultivated resilience within their workplace throughout the school year.
